Happy Father's Day

Sometimes I admit I get jealous of how long my extended family and friends got to keep their fathers in their lives, even though I know it's wrong. Father's Day makes it especially hard because everywhere you go and all over the tv it's ads about Father's day and it never goes away.

When you consider 3 days ago made the 26th anniversary of my dad's death, father's day isn't high on my days of happy holidays list. He died at the same age I am now so you talk about feeling weird, that'll do it to you.

He's been gone half my life and I still miss that crazy old guy.

Hug them if you got them folks, Happy Father's day to all.

I'm the same way, sugar. Mother's day and Father's day.

But I"m glad for the people who still have their parents in their lives. I just hope they appreciate theirs as much as I do mine.

Not ever having a "father", I think you touch on something that is so completely natural, yet also can open us to more feelings of gratitude with each person who takes on pieces of that role for us.

As if this morning wasn't enough fun we have now discovered one of the more lovely joys of rural living. A kitchen full of ants! Have only sprayed twice this year and yet it's been such a pain in the neck keeping rid of them.

I should have known not to test fate with my earlier post, really I should.

Ugh! I hate bugs, I live in Charleston, SC and when the weather starts getting hot and humid the roaches, ants, etc. come out...I had some sugar ants in my kitchen, I put a Raid disk down on the counter and they literally were gone overnight. I like the disks better than spray because I don't want my cat inhaling the chemicals and it's just easier. and it keeps them away for longer. Hope they go away and stay away!

I don't have the coffee grounds but I've tried cinnamon and cloves both.

Took my nephew to Cincinnati Children Hosp Autism center yesterday for a check up and to meet his new doctor there and it went great. That was the only part of the day to go great. Ran though storms that were horrible to get there and winds that wore me out driving. Got back in late and everyone just fell into bed too tired to talk.

Then this morning my brother (landlord) goes outside to mow, after we were all surprised by a ringing doorbell and a scheduled visit from my nephew's caseworker. My brother walks back in after 1 pass with the mower (which we just got fixed last week) I'm thinking it's broke again but instead he asks us if we took or loaned the keys to his very fancy Chevy truck with an alarm system that would wake the dead..... No why?

A visit from the police later wherein it's pretty much hopeless that the truck can be found or the tools or handgun that were inside it since he planned to travel in the truck today.

How much fun a start can a weekend have?

Got up this morning planning on having a strawberry shortcake for breakfast, was thinking about it when I went to bed and just wasn't willing to wait any later than breakfast... hey little cake fresh berries and big cold can of redi whip and so I go to the kitchen and get out the berries and the cakes and a bowl and spoon then start digging around the fridge for the redi whip, but I cannot find it so I ask my sister who takes a look and cannot find it either so we asked my niece and she says that red spray can... yes .... okay and she walks around the corner to the pantry and gets out my tall red can of what should be cold whipped cream and it's been hot for 2 days!

I was speechless and my sister laughed so hard at the look on my face she nearly pee'd her pants! Dammit!

Update--- it's just after 4pm now and after a full day of everyone teasing me over my lack of whipped cream, my brother takes my niece to the store to replace my redi whip and I finally got my strawberry shortcake and just for good measure I had 2

I am so glad I didn't over do the sugar on them. :) Adding another pack of strawberries would of solved it if I had, they would of soaked up the extra sugar.

Well.... guess a can is something you put in the pantry, not the ref. hahaha Can't blame her.
